Josué 11
1 Tendo Jabim, rei de Hazor, ouvido isto, enviou mensageiros a Jobabe, rei de Madom, e ao rei Sinrom, e ao rei Acsafe,
2 e aos reis que estavam ao norte, na região montanhosa, na Arabá, ao sul de Quinerete, nas planícies e nos planaltos de Dor, do lado do mar,
3 aos cananeus do oriente e do ocidente: aos amorreus, aos heteus, aos ferezeus, aos jebuseus nas montanhas e aos heveus ao pé do Hermom, na terra de Mispa.
4 Saíram, pois, estes e todas as suas tropas com eles, muito povo, em multidão como a areia que está na praia do mar, e muitíssimos cavalos e carros.
5 Todos estes reis se ajuntaram, e vieram, e se acamparam junto às águas de Merom, para pelejarem contra Israel.
6 Disse o SENHOR a Josué: Não temas diante deles, porque amanhã, a esta mesma hora, já os terás traspassado diante dos filhos de Israel; os seus cavalos jarretarás e queimarás os seus carros.
7 Josué, e todos os homens de guerra com ele, veio apressadamente contra eles às águas de Merom, e os atacaram.
8 O SENHOR os entregou nas mãos de Israel; e os feriram e os perseguiram até à grande Sidom, e até Misrefote-Maim, e até ao vale de Mispa, ao oriente; feriram-nos sem deixar nem sequer um.
9 Fez-lhes Josué como o SENHOR lhe dissera; os seus cavalos jarretou e os seus carros queimou.
10 Nesse mesmo tempo, voltou Josué, tomou a Hazor e feriu à espada o seu rei, porquanto Hazor, dantes, era a capital de todos estes reinos.
11 A todos os que nela estavam feriram à espada e totalmente os destruíram, e ninguém sobreviveu; e a Hazor queimou.
12 Josué tomou todas as cidades desses reis e também a eles e os feriu à espada, destruindo-os totalmente, como ordenara Moisés, servo do SENHOR.
13 Tão-somente não queimaram os israelitas as cidades que estavam sobre os outeiros, exceto Hazor, a qual Josué queimou.
14 E a todos os despojos destas cidades e ao gado os filhos de Israel saquearam para si; porém a todos os homens feriram à espada, até que os destruíram; e ninguém sobreviveu.
15 Como ordenara o SENHOR a Moisés, seu servo, assim Moisés ordenou a Josué; e assim Josué o fez; nem uma só palavra deixou de cumprir de tudo o que o SENHOR ordenara a Moisés.
16 Tomou, pois, Josué toda aquela terra, a saber, a região montanhosa, todo o Neguebe, toda a terra de Gósen, as planícies, a Arabá e a região montanhosa de Israel com suas planícies;
17 desde o monte Halaque, que sobe a Seir, até Baal-Gade, no vale do Líbano, ao pé do monte Hermom; também tomou todos os seus reis, e os feriu, e os matou.
18 Por muito tempo, Josué fez guerra contra todos estes reis.
19 Não houve cidade que fizesse paz com os filhos de Israel, senão os heveus, moradores de Gibeão; por meio de guerra, as tomaram todas.
20 Porquanto do SENHOR vinha o endurecimento do seu coração para saírem à guerra contra Israel, a fim de que fossem totalmente destruídos e não lograssem piedade alguma; antes, fossem de todo destruídos, como o SENHOR tinha ordenado a Moisés.
21 Naquele tempo, veio Josué e eliminou os anaquins da região montanhosa, de Hebrom, de Debir, de Anabe, e de todas as montanhas de Judá, e de todas as montanhas de Israel; Josué os destruiu totalmente com as suas cidades.
22 Nem um dos anaquins sobreviveu na terra dos filhos de Israel; somente em Gaza, em Gate e em Asdode alguns subsistiram.
23 Assim, tomou Josué toda esta terra, segundo tudo o que o SENHOR tinha dito a Moisés; e Josué a deu em herança aos filhos de Israel, conforme as suas divisões e tribos; e a terra repousou da guerra.
11 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph, 2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west, 3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh. 4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many. 5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel. 6 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. 7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them. 8 And the Lord delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining. 9 And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire. 10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire. 12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. 13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn. 14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe. 15 As the Lord commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses. 16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same; 17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them. 18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. 19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. 20 For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses. 21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities. 22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained. 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Salmos 144
1 Bendito seja o SENHOR, rocha minha, que me adestra as mãos para a batalha e os dedos, para a guerra;
2 minha misericórdia e fortaleza minha, meu alto refúgio e meu libertador, meu escudo, aquele em quem confio e quem me submete o meu povo.
3 SENHOR, que é o homem para que dele tomes conhecimento? E o filho do homem, para que o estimes?
4 O homem é como um sopro; os seus dias, como a sombra que passa.
5 Abaixa, SENHOR, os teus céus e desce; toca os montes, e fumegarão.
6 Despede relâmpagos e dispersa os meus inimigos; arremessa as tuas flechas e desbarata-os.
7 Estende a mão lá do alto; livra-me e arrebata-me das muitas águas e do poder de estranhos,
8 cuja boca profere mentiras, e cuja direita é direita de falsidade.
9 A ti, ó Deus, entoarei novo cântico; no saltério de dez cordas, te cantarei louvores.
10 É ele quem dá aos reis a vitória; quem livra da espada maligna a Davi, seu servo.
11 Livra-me e salva-me do poder de estranhos, cuja boca profere mentiras, e cuja direita é direita de falsidade.
12 Que nossos filhos sejam, na sua mocidade, como plantas viçosas, e nossas filhas, como pedras angulares, lavradas como colunas de palácio;
13 que transbordem os nossos celeiros, atulhados de toda sorte de provisões; que os nossos rebanhos produzam a milhares e a dezenas de milhares, em nossos campos;
14 que as nossas vacas andem pejadas, não lhes haja rotura, nem mau sucesso. Não haja gritos de lamento em nossas praças.
15 Bem-aventurado o povo a quem assim sucede! Sim, bem-aventurado é o povo cujo Deus é o SENHOR!
144 Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. 3 Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! 4 Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. 5 Bow thy heavens, O Lord, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. 7 Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; 8 Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. 10 It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. 11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: 12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: 13 That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: 14 That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets. 15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

Jeremias 5
1 Dai voltas às ruas de Jerusalém; vede agora, procurai saber, buscai pelas suas praças a ver se achais alguém, se há um homem que pratique a justiça ou busque a verdade; e eu lhe perdoarei a ela.
2 Embora digam: Tão certo como vive o SENHOR, certamente, juram falso.
3 Ah! SENHOR, não é para a fidelidade que atentam os teus olhos? Tu os feriste, e não lhes doeu; consumiste-os, e não quiseram receber a disciplina; endureceram o rosto mais do que uma rocha; não quiseram voltar.
4 Mas eu pensei: são apenas os pobres que são insensatos, pois não sabem o caminho do SENHOR, o direito do seu Deus.
5 Irei aos grandes e falarei com eles; porque eles sabem o caminho do SENHOR, o direito do seu Deus; mas estes, de comum acordo, quebraram o jugo e romperam as algemas.
6 Por isso, um leão do bosque os matará, um lobo dos desertos os assolará, um leopardo estará à espreita das suas cidades; qualquer que sair delas será despedaçado; porque as suas transgressões se multiplicaram, multiplicaram-se as suas perfídias.
7 Como, vendo isto, te perdoaria? Teus filhos me deixam a mim e juram pelos que não são deuses; depois de eu os ter fartado, adulteraram e em casa de meretrizes se ajuntaram em bandos;
8 como garanhões bem fartos, correm de um lado para outro, cada um rinchando à mulher do seu companheiro.
9 Deixaria eu de castigar estas coisas, diz o SENHOR, ou não me vingaria de nação como esta?
10 Subi vós aos terraços da vinha, destruí-a, porém não de todo; tirai-lhe as gavinhas, porque não são do SENHOR.
11 Porque perfidamente se houveram contra mim, a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá, diz o SENHOR.
12 Negaram ao SENHOR e disseram: Não é ele; e: Nenhum mal nos sobrevirá; não veremos espada nem fome.
13 Até os profetas não passam de vento, porque a palavra não está com eles, as suas ameaças se cumprirão contra eles mesmos.
14 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos Exércitos: Visto que proferiram eles tais palavras, eis que converterei em fogo as minhas palavras na tua boca e a este povo, em lenha, e eles serão consumidos.
15 Eis que trago sobre ti uma nação de longe, ó casa de Israel, diz o SENHOR; nação robusta, nação antiga, nação cuja língua ignoras; e não entendes o que ela fala.
16 A sua aljava é como uma sepultura aberta; todos os seus homens são valentes.
17 Comerão a tua sega e o teu pão, os teus filhos e as tuas filhas; comerão as tuas ovelhas e o teu gado; comerão a tua vide e a tua figueira; e com a espada derribarão as tuas cidades fortificadas, em que confias.
18 Contudo, ainda naqueles dias, diz o SENHOR, não vos destruirei de todo.
19 Quando disserem: Por que nos fez o SENHOR, nosso Deus, todas estas coisas? Então, lhes responderás: Como vós me deixastes e servistes a deuses estranhos na vossa terra, assim servireis a estrangeiros, em terra que não é vossa.
20 Anunciai isto na casa de Jacó e fazei-o ouvir em Judá, dizendo:
21 Ouvi agora isto, ó povo insensato e sem entendimento, que tendes olhos e não vedes, tendes ouvidos e não ouvis.
22 Não temereis a mim? – diz o SENHOR; não tremereis diante de mim, que pus a areia para limite do mar, limite perpétuo, que ele não traspassará? Ainda que se levantem as suas ondas, não prevalecerão; ainda que bramem, não o traspassarão.
23 Mas este povo é de coração rebelde e contumaz; rebelaram-se e foram-se.
24 Não dizem a eles mesmos: Temamos agora ao SENHOR, nosso Deus, que nos dá a seu tempo a chuva, a primeira e a última, que nos conserva as semanas determinadas da sega.
25 As vossas iniquidades desviam estas coisas, e os vossos pecados afastam de vós o bem.
26 Porque entre o meu povo se acham perversos; cada um anda espiando, como espreitam os passarinheiros; como eles, dispõem armadilhas e prendem os homens.
27 Como a gaiola cheia de pássaros, são as suas casas cheias de fraude; por isso, se tornaram poderosos e enriqueceram.
28 Engordam, tornam-se nédios e ultrapassam até os feitos dos malignos; não defendem a causa, a causa dos órfãos, para que prospere; nem julgam o direito dos necessitados.
29 Não castigaria eu estas coisas? – diz o SENHOR; não me vingaria eu de nação como esta?
30 Coisa espantosa e horrenda se anda fazendo na terra:
31 os profetas profetizam falsamente, e os sacerdotes dominam de mãos dadas com eles; e é o que deseja o meu povo. Porém que fareis quando estas coisas chegarem ao seu fim?
5 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it. 2 And though they say, The Lord liveth; surely they swear falsely. 3 O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. 4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God. 5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. 6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased. 7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses. 8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife. 9 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the Lord's. 11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the Lord. 12 They have belied the Lord, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine: 13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. 14 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. 15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the Lord: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say. 16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men. 17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword. 18 Nevertheless in those days, saith the Lord, I will not make a full end with you. 19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the Lord our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your's. 20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying, 21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: 22 Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it? 23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. 24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. 25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. 26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. 27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. 28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. 29 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; 31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
