LEITURA Bíblia Sagrada    Versão - João Ferreira de Almeida - 2ª edição PT-BR King James Version Gênesis 24 Mateus  23 Neemias 13 LEITURA  23º DIA  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Gênesis 24 1 Era Abraão já idoso, bem avançado em anos; e o SENHOR em tudo o havia abençoado. 2 Disse Abraão ao seu mais antigo servo da casa, que governava tudo o que possuía: Põe a mão por baixo da minha coxa, 3 para que eu te faça jurar pelo SENHOR, Deus do céu e da terra, que não tomarás esposa para meu filho das filhas dos cananeus, entre os quais habito; 4 mas irás à minha parentela e daí tomarás esposa para Isaque, meu filho. 5 Disse-lhe o servo: Talvez não queira a mulher seguir-me para esta terra; nesse caso, levarei teu filho à terra donde saíste? 6 Respondeu-lhe Abraão: Cautela! Não faças voltar para lá meu filho. 7 O SENHOR, Deus do céu, que me tirou da casa de meu pai e de minha terra natal, e que me falou, e jurou, dizendo: À tua descendência darei esta terra, ele enviará o seu anjo, que te há de preceder, e tomarás de lá esposa para meu filho. 8 Caso a mulher não queira seguir-te, ficarás desobrigado do teu juramento; entretanto, não levarás para lá meu filho. 9 Com isso, pôs o servo a mão por baixo da coxa de Abraão, seu senhor, e jurou fazer segundo o resolvido. 10 Tomou o servo dez dos camelos do seu senhor e, levando consigo de todos os bens dele, levantou-se e partiu, rumo da Mesopotâmia, para a cidade de Naor. 11 Fora da cidade, fez ajoelhar os camelos junto a um poço de água, à tarde, hora em que as moças saem a tirar água. 12 E disse consigo: Ó SENHOR, Deus de meu senhor Abraão, rogo-te que me acudas hoje e uses de bondade para com o meu senhor Abraão! 13 Eis que estou ao pé da fonte de água, e as filhas dos homens desta cidade saem para tirar água; 14 dá-me, pois, que a moça a quem eu disser: inclina o cântaro para que eu beba; e ela me responder: Bebe, e darei ainda de beber aos teus camelos, seja a que designaste para o teu servo Isaque; e nisso verei que usaste de bondade para com o meu senhor. 15 Considerava ele ainda, quando saiu Rebeca, filha de Betuel, filho de Milca, mulher de Naor, irmão de Abraão, trazendo um cântaro ao ombro. 16 A moça era mui formosa de aparência, virgem, a quem nenhum homem havia possuído; ela desceu à fonte, encheu o seu cântaro e subiu. 17 Então, o servo saiu-lhe ao encontro e disse: Dá-me de beber um pouco da água do teu cântaro. 18 Ela respondeu: Bebe, meu senhor. E, prontamente, baixando o cântaro para a mão, lhe deu de beber. 19 Acabando ela de dar a beber, disse: Tirarei água também para os teus camelos, até que todos bebam. 20 E, apressando-se em despejar o cântaro no bebedouro, correu outra vez ao poço para tirar mais água; tirou-a e deu-a a todos os camelos. 21 O homem a observava, em silêncio, atentamente, para saber se teria o SENHOR levado a bom termo a sua jornada ou não. 22 Tendo os camelos acabado de beber, tomou o homem um pendente de ouro de meio siclo de peso e duas pulseiras para as mãos dela, do peso de dez siclos de ouro; 23 e lhe perguntou: De quem és filha? Peço-te que me digas. Haverá em casa de teu pai lugar em que eu fique, e a comitiva? 24 Ela respondeu: Sou filha de Betuel, filho de Milca, o qual ela deu à luz a Naor. 25 E acrescentou: Temos palha, e muito pasto, e lugar para passar a noite. 26 Então, se inclinou o homem e adorou ao SENHOR. 27 E disse: Bendito seja o SENHOR, Deus de meu senhor Abraão, que não retirou a sua benignidade e a sua verdade de meu senhor; quanto a mim, estando no caminho, o SENHOR me guiou à casa dos parentes de meu senhor. 28 E a moça correu e contou aos da casa de sua mãe todas essas coisas. 29 Ora, Rebeca tinha um irmão, chamado Labão; este correu ao encontro do homem junto à fonte. 30 Pois, quando viu o pendente e as pulseiras nas mãos de sua irmã, tendo ouvido as palavras de Rebeca, sua irmã, que dizia: Assim me falou o homem, foi Labão ter com ele, o qual estava em pé junto aos camelos, junto à fonte. 31 E lhe disse: Entra, bendito do SENHOR, por que estás aí fora? Pois já preparei a casa e o lugar para os camelos. 32 Então, fez entrar o homem; descarregaram-lhe os camelos e lhes deram forragem e pasto; deu-se-lhe água para lavar os pés e também aos homens que estavam com ele. 33 Diante dele puseram comida; porém ele disse: Não comerei enquanto não expuser o propósito a que venho. Labão respondeu-lhe: Dize. 34 Então, disse: Sou servo de Abraão. 35 O SENHOR tem abençoado muito ao meu senhor, e ele se tornou grande; deu-lhe ovelhas e bois, e prata e ouro, e servos e servas, e camelos e jumentos. 36 Sara, mulher do meu senhor, era já idosa quando lhe deu à luz um filho; a este deu ele tudo quanto tem. 37 E meu senhor me fez jurar, dizendo: Não tomarás esposa para meu filho das mulheres dos cananeus, em cuja terra habito; 38 porém irás à casa de meu pai e à minha família e tomarás esposa para meu filho. 39 Respondi ao meu senhor: Talvez não queira a mulher seguir-me. 40 Ele me disse: O SENHOR, em cuja presença eu ando, enviará contigo o seu Anjo e levará a bom termo a tua jornada, para que, da minha família e da casa de meu pai, tomes esposa para meu filho. 41 Então, serás desobrigado do meu juramento, quando fores à minha família; se não ta derem, desobrigado estarás do meu juramento. 42 Hoje, pois, cheguei à fonte e disse comigo: ó SENHOR, Deus de meu senhor Abraão, se me levas a bom termo a jornada em que sigo, 43 eis-me agora junto à fonte de água; a moça que sair para tirar água, a quem eu disser: dá-me um pouco de água do teu cântaro, 44 e ela me responder: Bebe, e também tirarei água para os teus camelos, seja essa a mulher que o SENHOR designou para o filho de meu senhor. 45 Considerava ainda eu assim, no meu íntimo, quando saiu Rebeca trazendo o seu cântaro ao ombro, desceu à fonte e tirou água. E eu lhe disse: peço-te que me dês de beber. 46 Ela se apressou e, baixando o cântaro do ombro, disse: Bebe, e também darei de beber aos teus camelos. Bebi, e ela deu de beber aos camelos. 47 Daí lhe perguntei: de quem és filha? Ela respondeu: Filha de Betuel, filho de Naor e Milca. Então, lhe pus o pendente no nariz e as pulseiras nas mãos. 48 E, prostrando-me, adorei ao SENHOR e bendisse ao SENHOR, Deus do meu senhor Abraão, que me havia conduzido por um caminho direito, a fim de tomar para o filho do meu senhor uma filha do seu parente. 49 Agora, pois, se haveis de usar de benevolência e de verdade para com o meu senhor, fazei-mo saber; se não, declarai-mo, para que eu vá, ou para a direita ou para a esquerda. 50 Então, responderam Labão e Betuel: Isto procede do SENHOR, nada temos a dizer fora da sua verdade. 51 Eis Rebeca na tua presença; toma-a e vai-te; seja ela a mulher do filho do teu senhor, segundo a palavra do SENHOR. 52 Tendo ouvido o servo de Abraão tais palavras, prostrou-se em terra diante do SENHOR; 53 e tirou jóias de ouro e de prata e vestidos e os deu a Rebeca; também deu ricos presentes a seu irmão e a sua mãe. 54 Depois, comeram, e beberam, ele e os homens que estavam com ele, e passaram a noite. De madrugada, quando se levantaram, disse o servo: Permiti que eu volte ao meu senhor. 55 Mas o irmão e a mãe da moça disseram: Fique ela ainda conosco alguns dias, pelo menos dez; e depois irá. 56 Ele, porém, lhes disse: Não me detenhais, pois o SENHOR me tem levado a bom termo na jornada; permiti que eu volte ao meu senhor. 57 Disseram: Chamemos a moça e ouçamo-la pessoalmente. 58 Chamaram, pois, a Rebeca e lhe perguntaram: Queres ir com este homem? Ela respondeu: Irei. 59 Então, despediram a Rebeca, sua irmã, e a sua ama, e ao servo de Abraão, e a seus homens. 60 Abençoaram a Rebeca e lhe disseram: És nossa irmã; sê tu a mãe de milhares de milhares, e que a tua descendência possua a porta dos seus inimigos. 61 Então, se levantou Rebeca com suas moças e, montando os camelos, seguiram o homem. O servo tomou a Rebeca e partiu. 62 Ora, Isaque vinha de caminho de Beer-Laai-Roi, porque habitava na terra do Neguebe. 63 Saíra Isaque a meditar no campo, ao cair da tarde; erguendo os olhos, viu, e eis que vinham camelos. 64 Também Rebeca levantou os olhos, e, vendo a Isaque, apeou do camelo, 65 e perguntou ao servo: Quem é aquele homem que vem pelo campo ao nosso encontro? É o meu senhor, respondeu. Então, tomou ela o véu e se cobriu. 66 O servo contou a Isaque todas as coisas que havia feito. 67 Isaque conduziu-a até à tenda de Sara, mãe dele, e tomou a Rebeca, e esta lhe foi por mulher. Ele a amou; assim, foi Isaque consolado depois da morte de sua mãe. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  24 And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. 2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: 3 And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: 4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. 5 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest? 6 And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again. 7 The Lord God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence. 8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again. 9 And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter. 10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. 11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. 12 And he said O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. 13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: 14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master. 15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. 16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. 17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. 18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. 19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. 20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. 21 And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. 22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; 23 And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in? 24 And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor. 25 She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in. 26 And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the Lord. 27 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master's brethren. 28 And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things. 29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well. 30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well. 31 And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the Lord; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels. 32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him. 33 And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on. 34 And he said, I am Abraham's servant. 35 And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses. 36 And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath. 37 And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell: 38 But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son. 39 And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me. 40 And he said unto me, The Lord, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house: 41 Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath. 42 And I came this day unto the well, and said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go: 43 Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink; 44 And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the Lord hath appointed out for my master's son. 45 And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee. 46 And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also. 47 And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands. 48 And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son. 49 And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left. 50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the Lord: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good. 51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the Lord hath spoken. 52 And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. 53 And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things. 54 And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master. 55 And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go. 56 And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master. 57 And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth. 58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go. 59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men. 60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them. 61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way. 62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country. 63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming. 64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. 65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. 66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done. 67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Mateus 23 1 Então, falou Jesus às multidões e aos seus discípulos: 2 Na cadeira de Moisés, se assentaram os escribas e os fariseus. 3 Fazei e guardai, pois, tudo quanto eles vos disserem, porém não os imiteis nas suas obras; porque dizem e não fazem. 4 Atam fardos pesados [e difíceis de carregar] e os põem sobre os ombros dos homens; entretanto, eles mesmos nem com o dedo querem movê-los. 5 Praticam, porém, todas as suas obras com o fim de serem vistos dos homens; pois alargam os seus filactérios e alongam as suas franjas. 6 Amam o primeiro lugar nos banquetes e as primeiras cadeiras nas sinagogas, 7 as saudações nas praças e o serem chamados mestres pelos homens. 8 Vós, porém, não sereis chamados mestres, porque um só é vosso Mestre, e vós todos sois irmãos. 9 A ninguém sobre a terra chameis vosso pai; porque só um é vosso Pai, aquele que está nos céus. 10 Nem sereis chamados guias, porque um só é vosso Guia, o Cristo. 11 Mas o maior dentre vós será vosso servo. 12 Quem a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado; e quem a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado. 13 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque fechais o reino dos céus diante dos homens; pois vós não entrais, nem deixais entrar os que estão entrando! 14 [Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque devorais as casas das viúvas e, para o justificar, fazeis longas orações; por isso, sofrereis juízo muito mais severo!] 15 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque rodeais o mar e a terra para fazer um prosélito; e, uma vez feito, o tornais filho do inferno duas vezes mais do que vós! 16 Ai de vós, guias cegos, que dizeis: Quem jurar pelo santuário, isso é nada; mas, se alguém jurar pelo ouro do santuário, fica obrigado pelo que jurou! 17 Insensatos e cegos! Pois qual é maior: o ouro ou o santuário que santifica o ouro? 18 E dizeis: Quem jurar pelo altar, isso é nada; quem, porém, jurar pela oferta que está sobre o altar fica obrigado pelo que jurou. 19 Cegos! Pois qual é maior: a oferta ou o altar que santifica a oferta? 20 Portanto, quem jurar pelo altar jura por ele e por tudo o que sobre ele está. 21 Quem jurar pelo santuário jura por ele e por aquele que nele habita; 22 e quem jurar pelo céu jura pelo trono de Deus e por aquele que no trono está sentado. 23 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque dais o dízimo da hortelã, do endro e do cominho e tendes negligenciado os preceitos mais importantes da Lei: a justiça, a misericórdia e a fé; devíeis, porém, fazer estas coisas, sem omitir aquelas! 24 Guias cegos, que coais o mosquito e engolis o camelo! 25 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque limpais o exterior do copo e do prato, mas estes, por dentro, estão cheios de rapina e intemperança! 26 Fariseu cego, limpa primeiro o interior do copo, para que também o seu exterior fique limpo! 27 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque sois semelhantes aos sepulcros caiados, que, por fora, se mostram belos, mas interiormente estão cheios de ossos de mortos e de toda imundícia! 28 Assim também vós exteriormente pareceis justos aos homens, mas, por dentro, estais cheios de hipocrisia e de iniqüidade. 29 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas, porque edificais os sepulcros dos profetas, adornais os túmulos dos justos 30 e dizeis: Se tivéssemos vivido nos dias de nossos pais, não teríamos sido seus cúmplices no sangue dos profetas! 31 Assim, contra vós mesmos, testificais que sois filhos dos que mataram os profetas. 32 Enchei vós, pois, a medida de vossos pais. 33 Serpentes, raça de víboras! Como escapareis da condenação do inferno? 34 Por isso, eis que eu vos envio profetas, sábios e escribas. A uns matareis e crucificareis; a outros açoitareis nas vossas sinagogas e perseguireis de cidade em cidade; 35 para que sobre vós recaia todo o sangue justo derramado sobre a terra, desde o sangue do justo Abel até ao sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, a quem matastes entre o santuário e o altar. 36 Em verdade vos digo que todas estas coisas hão de vir sobre a presente geração. 37 Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas e apedrejas os que te foram enviados! 18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. 19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? 20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. 21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. 22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? 34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. 36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Neemias 13 1 Naquele dia, se leu para o povo no Livro de Moisés; achou-se escrito que os amonitas e os moabitas não entrassem jamais na congregação de Deus, 2 porquanto não tinham saído ao encontro dos filhos de Israel com pão e água; antes, assalariaram contra eles Balaão para os amaldiçoar; mas o nosso Deus converteu a maldição em bênção. 3 Ouvindo eles, o povo, esta lei, apartaram de Israel todo elemento misto. 4 Ora, antes disto, Eliasibe, sacerdote, encarregado da câmara da casa do nosso Deus, se tinha aparentado com Tobias; 5 e fizera para este uma câmara grande, onde dantes se depositavam as ofertas de manjares, o incenso, os utensílios e os dízimos dos cereais, do vinho e do azeite, que se ordenaram para os levitas, cantores e porteiros, como também contribuições para os sacerdotes. 6 Mas, quando isso aconteceu, não estive em Jerusalém, porque no trigésimo segundo ano de Artaxerxes, rei da Babilônia, eu fora ter com ele; mas ao cabo de certo tempo pedi licença ao rei e voltei para Jerusalém. 7 Então, soube do mal que Eliasibe fizera para beneficiar a Tobias, fazendo-lhe uma câmara nos pátios da Casa de Deus. 8 Isso muito me indignou a tal ponto, que atirei todos os móveis da casa de Tobias fora da câmara. 9 Então, ordenei que se purificassem as câmaras e tornei a trazer para ali os utensílios da Casa de Deus, com as ofertas de manjares e o incenso. 10 Também soube que os quinhões dos levitas não se lhes davam, de maneira que os levitas e os cantores, que faziam o serviço, tinham fugido cada um para o seu campo. 11 Então, contendi com os magistrados e disse: Por que se desamparou a Casa de Deus? Ajuntei os levitas e os cantores e os restituí a seus postos. 12 Então, todo o Judá trouxe os dízimos dos cereais, do vinho e do azeite aos depósitos. 13 Por tesoureiros dos depósitos pus Selemias, o sacerdote, Zadoque, o escrivão, e, dentre os levitas, Pedaías; como assistente deles, Hanã, filho de Zacur, filho de Matanias; porque foram achados fiéis, e se lhes encarregou que repartissem as porções para seus irmãos. 14 Por isto, Deus meu, lembra-te de mim e não apagues as beneficências que eu fiz à casa de meu Deus e para o seu serviço. 15 Naqueles dias, vi em Judá os que pisavam lagares ao sábado e traziam trigo que carregavam sobre jumentos; como também vinho, uvas e figos e toda sorte de cargas, que traziam a Jerusalém no dia de sábado; e protestei contra eles por venderem mantimentos neste dia. 16 Também habitavam em Jerusalém tírios que traziam peixes e toda sorte de mercadorias, que no sábado vendiam aos filhos de Judá e em Jerusalém. 17 Contendi com os nobres de Judá e lhes disse: Que mal é este que fazeis, profanando o dia de sábado? 18 Acaso, não fizeram vossos pais assim, e não trouxe o nosso Deus todo este mal sobre nós e sobre esta cidade? E vós ainda trazeis ira maior sobre Israel, profanando o sábado. 19 Dando já sombra as portas de Jerusalém antes do sábado, ordenei que se fechassem; e determinei que não se abrissem, senão após o sábado; às portas coloquei alguns dos meus moços, para que nenhuma carga entrasse no dia de sábado. 20 Então, os negociantes e os vendedores de toda sorte de mercadorias pernoitaram fora de Jerusalém, uma ou duas vezes. 21 Protestei, pois, contra eles e lhes disse: Por que passais a noite defronte do muro? Se outra vez o fizerdes, lançarei mão sobre vós. Daí em diante não tornaram a vir no sábado. 22 Também mandei aos levitas que se purificassem e viessem guardar as portas, para santificar o dia de sábado. Também nisto, Deus meu, lembra-te de mim; e perdoa-me segundo a abundância da tua misericórdia. 23 Vi também, naqueles dias, que judeus haviam casado com mulheres asdoditas, amonitas e moabitas. 24 Seus filhos falavam meio asdodita e não sabiam falar judaico, mas a língua de seu respectivo povo. 25 Contendi com eles, e os amaldiçoei, e espanquei alguns deles, e lhes arranquei os cabelos, e os conjurei por Deus, dizendo: Não dareis mais vossas filhas a seus filhos e não tomareis mais suas filhas, nem para vossos filhos nem para vós mesmos. 26 Não pecou nisto Salomão, rei de Israel? Todavia, entre muitas nações não havia rei semelhante a ele, e ele era amado do seu Deus, e Deus o constituiu rei sobre todo o Israel. Não obstante isso, as mulheres estrangeiras o fizeram cair no pecado. 27 Dar-vos-íamos nós ouvidos, para fazermos todo este grande mal, prevaricando contra o nosso Deus, casando com mulheres estrangeiras? 28 Um dos filhos de Joiada, filho do sumo sacerdote Eliasibe, era genro de Sambalate, o horonita, pelo que o afugentei de mim. 29 Lembra-te deles, Deus meu, pois contaminaram o sacerdócio, como também a aliança sacerdotal e levítica. 30 Limpei-os, pois, de toda estrangeirice e designei o serviço dos sacerdotes e dos levitas, cada um no seu mister, 31 como também o fornecimento de lenha em tempos determinados, bem como as primícias. Lembra-te de mim, Deus meu, para o meu bem. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  13 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever; 2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing. 3 Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude. 4 And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied unto Tobiah: 5 And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests. 6 But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king: 7 And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God. 8 And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. 9 Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense. 10 And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. 11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. 12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries. 13 And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren. 14 Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof. 15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. 16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? 18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. 19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. 20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. 21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. 22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy. 23 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: 24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people. 25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves. 26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin. 27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives? 28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me. 29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites. 30 Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business; 31 And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits.
