Vendo-os, correu da porta da tenda ao seu encontro, prostrou-se em terra 3 e disse: Senhor meu, se acho mercê em tua presença, rogo-te que não passes do teu servo; 4 traga-se um pouco de água, lavai os pés e repousai debaixo desta árvore; 5 trarei um bocado de pão; refazei as vossas forças, visto que chegastes até vosso servo; depois, seguireis avante. Responderam: Faze como disseste. 6 Apressou-se, pois, Abraão para a tenda de Sara e lhe disse: Amassa depressa três medidas de flor de farinha e faze pão assado ao borralho. 7 Abraão, por sua vez, correu ao gado, tomou um novilho, tenro e bom, e deu-o ao criado, que se apressou em prepará-lo. 8 Tomou também coalhada e leite e o novilho que mandara preparar e pôs tudo diante deles; e permaneceu de pé junto a eles debaixo da árvore; e eles comeram. 9 Então, lhe perguntaram: Sara, tua mulher, onde está? Ele respondeu: Está aí na tenda. 10 Disse um deles: Certamente voltarei a ti, daqui a um ano; e Sara, tua mulher, dará à luz um filho. Sara o estava escutando, à porta da tenda, atrás dele. 11 Abraão e Sara eram já velhos, avançados em idade; e a Sara já lhe havia cessado o costume das mulheres. 12 Riu-se, pois, Sara no seu íntimo, dizendo consigo mesma: Depois de velha, e velho também o meu senhor, terei ainda prazer? 13 Disse o SENHOR a Abraão: Por que se riu Sara, dizendo: Será verdade que darei ainda à luz, sendo velha? 14 Acaso, para o SENHOR há coisa demasiadamente difícil? Daqui a um ano, neste mesmo tempo, voltarei a ti, e Sara terá um filho. 15 Então, Sara, receosa, o negou, dizendo: Não me ri. Ele, porém, disse: Não é assim, é certo que riste. 16 Tendo-se levantado dali aqueles homens, olharam para Sodoma; e Abraão ia com eles, para os encaminhar. 17 Disse o SENHOR: Ocultarei a Abraão o que estou para fazer, 18 visto que Abraão certamente virá a ser uma grande e poderosa nação, e nele serão benditas todas as nações da terra? 19 Porque eu o escolhi para que ordene a seus filhos e a sua casa depois dele, a fim de que guardem o caminho do SENHOR e pratiquem a justiça e o juízo; para que o SENHOR faça vir sobre Abraão o que tem falado a seu respeito. 20 Disse mais o SENHOR: Com efeito, o clamor de Sodoma e Gomorra tem-se multiplicado, e o seu pecado se tem agravado muito. 21 Descerei e verei se, de fato, o que têm praticado corresponde a esse clamor que é vindo até mim; e, se assim não é, sabê-lo-ei. 22 Então, partiram dali aqueles homens e foram para Sodoma; porém Abraão permaneceu ainda na presença do SENHOR. 23 E, aproximando-se a ele, disse: Destruirás o justo com o ímpio? 24 Se houver, porventura, cinqüenta justos na cidade, destruirás ainda assim e não pouparás o lugar por amor dos cinqüenta justos que nela se encontram? 25 Longe de ti o fazeres tal coisa, matares o justo com o ímpio, como se o justo fosse igual ao ímpio; longe de ti. Não fará justiça o Juiz de toda a terra? 26 Então, disse o SENHOR: Se eu achar em Sodoma cinqüenta justos dentro da cidade, pouparei a cidade toda por amor deles. 27 Disse mais Abraão: Eis que me atrevo a falar ao Senhor, eu que sou pó e cinza. 28 Na hipótese de faltarem cinco para cinqüenta justos, destruirás por isso toda a cidade? Ele respondeu: Não a destruirei se eu achar ali quarenta e cinco. 29 Disse-lhe ainda mais Abraão: E se, porventura, houver ali quarenta? Respondeu: Não o farei por amor dos quarenta. 30 Insistiu: Não se ire o Senhor, falarei ainda: Se houver, porventura, ali trinta? Respondeu o SENHOR: Não o farei se eu encontrar ali trinta. 31 Continuou Abraão: Eis que me atrevi a falar ao Senhor: Se, porventura, houver ali vinte? Respondeu o SENHOR: Não a destruirei por amor dos vinte. 32 Disse ainda Abraão: Não se ire o Senhor, se lhe falo somente mais esta vez: Se, porventura, houver ali dez? Respondeu o SENHOR: Não a destruirei por amor dos dez. 33 Tendo cessado de falar a Abraão, retirou-se o SENHOR; e Abraão voltou para o seu lugar. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  18 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. 10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh. 16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. 20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord. 23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? 26 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. 27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: 28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. 29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. 30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. 31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. 32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. 33 And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Mateus 17 1 Seis dias depois, tomou Jesus consigo a Pedro e aos irmãos Tiago e João e os levou, em particular, a um alto monte. 2 E foi transfigurado diante deles; o seu rosto resplandecia como o sol, e as suas vestes tornaram-se brancas como a luz. 3 E eis que lhes apareceram Moisés e Elias, falando com ele. 4 Então, disse Pedro a Jesus: Senhor, bom é estarmos aqui; se queres, farei aqui três tendas; uma será tua, outra para Moisés, outra para Elias. 5 Falava ele ainda, quando uma nuvem luminosa os envolveu; e eis, vindo da nuvem, uma voz que dizia: Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem me comprazo; a ele ouvi. 6 Ouvindo-a os discípulos, caíram de bruços, tomados de grande medo. 7 Aproximando-se deles, tocou-lhes Jesus, dizendo: Erguei-vos e não temais! 8 Então, eles, levantando os olhos, a ninguém viram, senão Jesus. 9 E, descendo eles do monte, ordenou-lhes Jesus: A ninguém conteis a visão, até que o Filho do Homem ressuscite dentre os mortos. 10 Mas os discípulos o interrogaram: Por que dizem, pois, os escribas ser necessário que Elias venha primeiro? 11 Então, Jesus respondeu: De fato, Elias virá e restaurará todas as coisas. 12 Eu, porém, vos declaro que Elias já veio, e não o reconheceram; antes, fizeram com ele tudo quanto quiseram. Assim também o Filho do Homem há de padecer nas mãos deles. 13 Então, os discípulos entenderam que lhes falara a respeito de João Batista. 14 E, quando chegaram para junto da multidão, aproximou-se dele um homem, que se ajoelhou e disse: 15 Senhor, compadece-te de meu filho, porque é lunático e sofre muito; pois muitas vezes cai no fogo e outras muitas, na água. 16 Apresentei-o a teus discípulos, mas eles não puderam curá-lo. 17 Jesus exclamou: Ó geração incrédula e perversa! Até quando estarei convosco? Até quando vos sofrerei? Trazei-me aqui o menino. 18 E Jesus repreendeu o demônio, e este saiu do menino; e, desde aquela hora, ficou o menino curado. 19 Então, os discípulos, aproximando-se de Jesus, perguntaram em particular: Por que motivo não pudemos nós expulsá-lo? 20 E ele lhes respondeu: Por causa da pequenez da vossa fé. Pois em verdade vos digo que, se tiverdes fé como um grão de mostarda, direis a este monte: Passa daqui para acolá, e ele passará. Nada vos será impossível. 21 [Mas esta casta não se expele senão por meio de oração e jejum.] 22 Reunidos eles na Galiléia, disse-lhes Jesus: O Filho do Homem está para ser entregue nas mãos dos homens; 23 e estes o matarão; mas, ao terceiro dia, ressuscitará. Então, os discípulos se entristeceram grandemente. 24 Tendo eles chegado a Cafarnaum, dirigiram-se a Pedro os que cobravam o imposto das duas dracmas e perguntaram: Não paga o vosso Mestre as duas dracmas? 25 Sim, respondeu ele. Ao entrar Pedro em casa, Jesus se lhe antecipou, dizendo: Simão, que te parece? De quem cobram os reis da terra impostos ou tributo: dos seus filhos ou dos estranhos? 26 Respondendo Pedro: Dos estranhos, Jesus lhe disse: Logo, estão isentos os filhos. 27 Mas, para que não os escandalizemos, vai ao mar, lança o anzol, e o primeiro peixe que fisgar, tira-o; e, abrindo-lhe a boca, acharás um estáter. Toma-o e entrega-lhes por mim e por ti. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. 10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. 14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. 22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. 24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  Neemias 7 1 Ora, uma vez reedificado o muro e assentadas as portas, estabelecidos os porteiros, os cantores e os levitas, 2 eu nomeei Hanani, meu irmão, e Hananias, maioral do castelo, sobre Jerusalém. Hananias era homem fiel e temente a Deus, mais do que muitos outros. 3 E lhes disse: não se abram as portas de Jerusalém até que o sol aqueça e, enquanto os guardas ainda estão ali, que se fechem as portas e se tranquem; ponham-se guardas dos moradores de Jerusalém, cada um no seu posto diante de sua casa. 4 A cidade era espaçosa e grande, mas havia pouca gente nela, e as casas não estavam edificadas ainda. 5 Então, o meu Deus me pôs no coração que ajuntasse os nobres, os magistrados e o povo, para registrar as genealogias. Achei o livro da genealogia dos que subiram primeiro, e nele estava escrito: 6 São estes os filhos da província que subiram do cativeiro, dentre os exilados, que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, levara para o exílio e que voltaram para Jerusalém e para Judá, cada um para a sua cidade, 7 os quais vieram com Zorobabel, Jesua, Neemias, Azarias, Raamias, Naamani, Mordecai, Bilsã, Misperete, Bigvai, Neum e Baaná. Este é o número dos homens do povo de Israel: 8 foram os filhos de Parós, dois mil cento e setenta e dois. 9 Os filhos de Sefatias, trezentos e setenta e dois. 10 Os filhos de Ará, seiscentos e cinqüenta e dois. 11 Os filhos de Paate-Moabe, dos filhos de Jesua e de Joabe, dois mil oitocentos e dezoito. 12 Os filhos de Elão, mil duzentos e cinqüenta e quatro. 13 Os filhos de Zatu, oitocentos e quarenta e cinco. 14 Os filhos de Zacai, setecentos e sessenta. 15 Os filhos de Binui, seiscentos e quarenta e oito. 16 Os filhos de Bebai, seiscentos e vinte e oito. 17 Os filhos de Azgade, dois mil trezentos e vinte e dois. 18 Os filhos de Adonicão, seiscentos e sessenta e sete. 19 Os filhos de Bigvai, dois mil e sessenta e sete. 20 Os filhos de Adim, seiscentos e cinqüenta e cinco. 21 Os filhos de Ater, da família de Ezequias, noventa e oito. 22 Os filhos de Hasum, trezentos e vinte e oito. 23 Os filhos de Besai, trezentos e vinte e quatro. 24 Os filhos de Harife, cento e doze. 25 Os filhos de Gibeão, noventa e cinco. 26 Os homens de Belém e de Netofa, cento e oitenta e oito. 27 Os homens de Anatote, cento e vinte e oito. 28 Os homens de Bete-Azmavete, quarenta e dois. 29 Os homens de Quiriate-Jearim, Cefira e Beerote, setecentos e quarenta e três. 30 Os homens de Ramá e Geba, seiscentos e vinte e um. 31 Os homens de Micmás, cento e vinte e dois. 32 Os homens de Betel e Ai, cento e vinte e três. 33 Os homens do outro Nebo, cinqüenta e dois. 34 Os filhos do outro Elão, mil duzentos e cinqüenta e quatro. 35 Os filhos de Harim, trezentos e vinte. 36 Os filhos de Jericó, trezentos e quarenta e cinco. 37 Os filhos de Lode, Hadide e Ono, setecentos e vinte e um. 38 Os filhos de Senaá, três mil novecentos e trinta. 39 Os sacerdotes: os filhos de Jedaías, da casa de Jesua, novecentos e setenta e três. 40 Os filhos de Imer, mil e cinqüenta e dois. 41 Os filhos de Pasur, mil duzentos e quarenta e sete. 42 Os filhos de Harim, mil e dezessete. 43 Os levitas: os filhos de Jesua, de Cadmiel, dos filhos de Hodeva, setenta e quatro. 44 Os cantores: os filhos de Asafe, cento e quarenta e oito. 45 Os porteiros: os filhos de Salum, os filhos de Ater, os filhos de Talmom, os filhos de Acube, os filhos de Hatita, os filhos de Sobai, cento e trinta e oito. 46 Os servidores do templo: os filhos de Zia, os filhos de Hasufa, os filhos de Tabaote, 47 os filhos de Queros, os filhos de Sia, os filhos de Padom, 48 os filhos de Lebana, os filhos de Hagaba, os filhos de Salmai, 49 os filhos de Hanã, os filhos de Gidel, os filhos de Gaar, 50 os filhos de Reaías, os filhos de Rezim, os filhos de Necoda, 51 os filhos de Gazão, os filhos de Uzá, os filhos de Paséia, 52 os filhos de Besai, os filhos de Meunim, os filhos de Nefusesim, 53 os filhos de Baquebuque, os filhos de Hacufa, os filhos de Harur, 54 os filhos de Bazlite, os filhos de Meída, os filhos de Harsa, 55 os filhos de Barcos, os filhos de Sísera, os filhos de Tama, 56 os filhos de Nesias e os filhos de Hatifa. 57 Os filhos dos servos de Salomão: os filhos de Sotai, os filhos de Soferete, os filhos de Perida, 58 os filhos de Jaala, os filhos de Darcom, os filhos de Gidel, 59 os filhos de Sefatias, os filhos de Hatil, os filhos de Poquerete-Hazebaim e os filhos de Amom. 60 Todos os servidores do templo e os filhos dos servos de Salomão, trezentos e noventa e dois. 61 Os seguintes subiram de Tel-Melá, Tel-Harsa, Querube, Adom e Imer, porém não puderam provar que as suas famílias e a sua linhagem eram de Israel: 62 os filhos de Delaías, os filhos de Tobias, os filhos de Necoda, seiscentos e quarenta e dois. 63 Dos sacerdotes: os filhos de Habaías, os filhos de Coz, os filhos de Barzilai, o qual se casou com uma das filhas de Barzilai, o gileadita, e que foi chamado pelo nome dele. 64 Estes procuraram o seu registro nos livros genealógicos, porém o não acharam; pelo que foram tidos por imundos para o sacerdócio. 65 O governador lhes disse que não comessem das coisas sagradas, até que se levantasse um sacerdote com Urim e Tumim. 66 Toda esta congregação junta foi de quarenta e dois mil trezentos e sessenta, 67 afora os seus servos e as suas servas, que foram sete mil trezentos e trinta e sete; e tinham duzentos e quarenta e cinco cantores e cantoras. 68 Os seus cavalos, setecentos e trinta e seis; os seus mulos, duzentos e quarenta e cinco. 69 Camelos, quatrocentos e trinta e cinco; jumentos, seis mil setecentos e vinte. 70 Alguns dos cabeças das famílias contribuíram para a obra. O governador deu para o tesouro, em ouro, mil daricos, cinqüenta bacias e quinhentas e trinta vestes sacerdotais. 71 E alguns mais dos cabeças das famílias deram para o tesouro da obra, em ouro, vinte mil daricos e, em prata, dois mil e duzentos arráteis. 72 O que deu o restante do povo foi, em ouro, vinte mil daricos, e dois mil arráteis em prata, e sessenta e sete vestes sacerdotais. 73 Os sacerdotes, os levitas, os porteiros, os cantores, alguns do povo, os servidores do templo e todo o Israel habitavam nas suas cidades. ..... ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦  7 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed, 2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many. 3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house. 4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded. 5 And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore, 67 Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women. 68 Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five: 69 Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses. 70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work.
